The Grand Daddy
During a Sierras backpacking trip last fall, our group hiked a ridge overlooking our campsite and found this glorious tree. It’s weather-beaten and gnarled, but its massive roots have a firm grip upon the granite it sits on. I’m gonna design a beer label at some point featuring this guy front-and-center. Holler at me, brewers.

After weeks of repair and retouching on the museum’s 4th floor, this model is almost ready to get back into its display.

One of Leslie’s many projects is giving love to the inhabitants of the Reptile Hall. These replicas are masterful creations from the early 20th Century, and Leslie is seeing to it that they will be in good shape for many decades to come.
I’ve been chronicling her process for months now and I plan on putting together some multimedia features in the near future. Stay tuned.
